When our waiter took our plates upon seating, I was pleasantly surprised; instead of the advertised buffet, our Tokyo Harbor Dinner Cruise turned out to be a refined seated dinner with white-glove service. The meal unfolded over four exquisite courses: salmon sashimi crowned with caviar, steamed fish over tomatoes, Japanese steak with tomato wedges, and, to finish, a rich chocolate torte with ice cream, melon, and red grapefruit.

Tokyo Harbor Dinner Cruise
Enjoying the Dinner Cruise Around Tokyo Bay
The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and there was live music in every dining room and the upstairs lounge. We enjoyed our window seat, which offered a fantastic view of the lovely bridges, harbor businesses, and skyline. We watched planes coming in overhead to Haneda Airport. The lights were dimmed at specific times to ensure great views of the movie being played just outside our windows. There was live music in every dining room and the upstairs lounge. Lunch or Dinner?
There are many cruises available that include lunch or dinner so that customers can enjoy a meal on the water that leaves from Hinode Pier. These cruises usually take about two hours and make a round trip that ends at the departure point.
And while many of the staff did not speak English, this didn’t affect our experience in any way. This is an excellent way to introduce Tokyo to a first-time visitor or of escaping the hustle and bustle of the city to the ones who’ve been touring the massive city all day. You can view the city from the streets, from above and from below, the cruise gives you excellent sightseeing opportunities to see the iconic landmarks from yet another perspective… from the water.
Tokyo Harbor After Dark
After dinner, we were able to move freely about the yacht to enjoy the scenery from the top deck or the various lounges. Fortunately, the weather was beautiful. Being so far from the city allows you to truly take in the sights without the glare of the city lights.

How to get to Hinode Pier
For easy access to the Tokyo Harbor Dinner Cruise, take the Yamanote Line in the direction of Shibuya/Shinjuku from Platform 5. Ride for three stops until you reach Shimbashi Station. From Shimbashi, transfer to the Yurikamome Line heading toward Toyosu on Platform 1 or 2. Stay on the Yurikamome Line for another three stops until you arrive at Hinode Station. Once you exit, follow the signs directing you to Hinode Pier and the cruise departure point. Download the subway map here.
