Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet
The Clinton Presidential Center has a long history of hosting fascinating exhibits, and its current art installation, Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet, is no exception. The exhibition features 26 intricately decorated globes spread throughout the museum’s campus. Each of the massive spheres was created by a different artist, including four designed by Little Rock locals. A fantastic example of public art with a purpose, each sculpture highlights a unique way we can make a difference in the fight against climate change.
Esse Purse Museum
The Esse Purse Museum in Little Rock, Arkansas, is basically a fashion time machine for people who love accessories. The museum shows how women’s style has evolved in the 20th century, using vintage purses and handbags as the focal point. It’s a cool collection that mirrors the changes in society and fashion over the years.

HU Lee International Gate and Garden
The HU Lee International Gate and Garden is a serene and symbolic entrance to Arkansas’s famed Little Rock Central High School. It honors HU Lee, a martial arts master, and promotes values like peace and harmony. The gate leads to a beautiful garden, offering a contemplative space for reflection and a few beautiful statuaries.
Peace Mural
Little Rock has a lot of murals – so many that there’s even a self-guided tour to see them all – but if you ask most locals what their favorite is, you’ll likely get one answer: the peace mural. Located along 7th Street, just west of the Arkansas State Capitol, the mural is a joint effort between artists from around Little Rock and across central Arkansas. It features imagery from the civil rights movement and calls for social justice.

The Old Mill
The Old Mill in Little Rock, Arkansas, is a picturesque spot with a vintage, old-world charm. It has been featured in the opening scenes of Gone with the Wind. It’s a historic re-creation of an 1800s water-powered grist (grain) mill. The grain was processed into flour or meal by the millstones using the force of flowing water.The site includes scenic walking paths and a beautiful setting that attracts visitors seeking a tranquil and nostalgic experience.

Mosaic Templars Cultural Center

The Galleries & Bookstore at Library Square offer two retail galleries that feature work by over 50 Arkansas artists. Their work includes ceramics, glass, jewelry, mixed media, paintings, sculpture, and wood. Three additional gallery spaces feature rotating exhibitions also by local artists. Works from the Central Arkansas Library System’s permanent art collection are also displayed regularly.
Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden
The Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden is a part of the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock. It features a diverse collection of sculptures by various artists, set within a beautifully landscaped garden. The sculptures are placed throughout the garden, creating an outdoor art experience.

Little Rock River Market District
The Little Rock River Market District is a vibrant area in downtown Little Rock, Arkansas. Known for its lively atmosphere, it features a mix of shops, restaurants, entertainment venues, theaters, abd cultural attractions. The River Market also hosts a farmer’s market, making it a hub for local produce and crafts by local vendors.
Riverfront Park
The Little Rock Riverfront Park is a scenic public park located along the Arkansas River in downtown Little Rock. Riverfront Park has walking and biking trails, green spaces, as well as an amphitheater with beautiful views of the river. The park is a popular spot for outdoor activities, events, and gatherings. Take a stroll along Medical Mile where there are a lot of unique statues, pavilions, a splash park and playgrounds, and a cool outdoor exhibit that features a large Indian head.
Presidential Park Wetlands
A picturesque spot to appreciate the city’s natural and architectural wonders from various viewpoints, day or night. You can explore it on foot, by bike, or by renting a scooter. Thanks to the abundance of bridges, walkways, and trails, you’ll be able see get a various perspectives on Little Rock.
Junction Bridge
The last attraction on top 10 things to do in Little Rock is the Junction Bridge. It is a converted railroad bridge turned pedestrian bridge. It spans the Arkansas River, connecting the River Market District with North Little Rock. The bridge offers scenic views of the river and skyline, making it a popular spot for walking and enjoying the surroundings.

Nexxus Cafe is a pretty cafe in the River District that has a vintage feel and big floor to ceiling windows. Don’t sleep on the cinnamon coffee cake– it was delicious, one of the best I’ve ever eaten.

The Flying Fish
The Flying Fish is a very popular diner-style Cajun restaurant, exudes charm, and nostalgia with walls adorned with impressive fish plaques. Renowned for its delectable offerings, the menu boasts fish, shrimp, gumbo, grilled shrimp tacos, red beans and rice, hushpuppies, jambalaya, and crispy fried okra.

Buenos Aires Grill & Cafe
The Buenos Aires Grill & Cafe serves authentic empanadas and typical fare from that region in a festive two story building downtown.

There are a couple of great breweries in town, but The Flying Saucer Draught Emporium has a lot of draft beer taps and a reasonably priced food menu.

Conclusion
Only one thing comes to mind when I think about our brief visit to Little Rock. I wish I had more time. Little Rock is a fantastic city. I thoroughly enjoyed walking around the market district, park, and river. I hope we get a chance to visit again one day soon.
