I can’t believe I’m crying, and the flight to Seoul hasn’t even left the ground yet. I knew this could happen, but I thought it wouldn’t happen until much later. Maybe on our first overseas adventure. It didn’t always happen, …
First of all– hello. It’s been a minute. How and where are you these days? I’ve meant to write to you guys, and it’s been on my list for three weeks. I want to hear about what’s going on with you …
This is suppose to be a time of rediscovery, right? It’s day 51 and all the promises I made to use this time at home to better myself is ending up on the pile of past New Years Resolutions. Sure, it came from a place of good intentions. But it turns out that place, like my hair salon, is off-limits. Don’t judge a book by its cover. The Mountain Lodge on Aviano looks pretty on the outside. But for $60 a night in the heart of the Veneto, Italy– you barely get what you pay for.
Baumholder has been my favorite duty station in the 23 years we have traveled with the military. Forty minutes from the French border, the Weinstrasse (wine road). Don’t get me wrong, I loved our little apartment in Baumholder, but that town was well-known for its contrary weather. We fondly and not so fondly referred to it as the rock. We lived in an old stone mansion that had been renovated into four large apartments. We shared the second floor with a retired German officer. The first floor was split between a US Major and his wife. Across the hall was a 90+ year old German widow.

So I immediately began researching Daegu. I looked for blogs that could provide some insights for what to expect. But I couldn’t find any that were very helpful. Moving to South Korea came with the expectation of exploring Asia. I decided to be the research I was looking for. Here, I share some valuable travel tips and ideas that I have learned while living in South Korea and traveling across Asia.
