Andalusia inherited from the influx of Moors across the 9 mile stretch of sea. The language, dance, music, spices, religion and architecture simmer in warm melting pot that entrances you with their romanticized language and laid back lifestyle.

Dorian sat down next to me st the bar at Hopdoddy’s in Round Rock and ordered a frito burger. Jonny leaned in to confess that that burger wasn’t on the menu anymore but she’d make it for him anyway. That made me smile. Veterans Day is really an opportunity to see how your local businesses appreciate the service of America’s true 1%— the military.
It’s 1pm and the sun is high and very hot. There is a cool breeze under the rustling trees that provide a little relief from the scorching sun. It’s reverently quiet, although kids are at play, friends are talking and eating lunch together and visitors rub their hands over the names inscribed into the Ground Zero memorial, trying to visualize the chaos and carnage of that autumn day almost 16 years ago last month.
He was right, I wasn’t giving him my full attention and that’s not putting him first. Once it was brought to my attention, I decided to make some changes to keep the peace and not allow the blog to come between us.
Are you looking for the best view of Paris? You’re in Paris, it’s the thing to do. Then trust me, don’t waste your time climbing to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Paris is so flat, the best view is not from the tower. The best view of Paris is everywhere else that includes the Eiffel Tower.
Baumholder has been my favorite duty station in the 23 years we have traveled with the military. Forty minutes from the French border, the Weinstrasse (wine road). It was less than 90 minutes from Frankfurt, central to a lot of cute towns like Idar Oberstein and less than an hour from Frankfurt Hahn, an international airport and Ryan Air. And Baumholder was in the middle of it all.
