Liquid Art Winery in Manhattan Kansas Posted on July 31, 2018June 28, 2024 Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... We heard there was a new winery in Manhattan near Fort Riley, Kansas. You guys know how much I love wine, wineries and wine trails by now. I love the sweet earthy aromas. The symmetry of the vines and the individuality of each grape leaf appeals to my quirky nature. Add a view with rolling hills for miles and a chilled glass of white wine— that’s Liquid Art. Liquid Art Winery in Manhattan Kansas Liquid Arts Winery is young but is making a great start. The local winery is set in the beautiful Flint Hills local winery near Fort Riley. It opened in 2016 and is preparing for its very first harvest. I had no idea Kansas had ever been a hub for winemaking. But apparently, it was prior to that ridiculous prohibition era. Unfortunately, Kansas’ more than 100 wineries didn’t survive the legislation. Now, there are a few dozen wineries in the state. But more are opening every year. Liquid Art Winery includes a full-production winery, tasting room and event center that opened in April and July 2016 respectively. This August will be the first time the public can participate in the estate’s Autumn harvest. You’ll also be able to help produce a seasonal watermelon wine. Contact the winery for more information. The Event Center Wedding guests were arriving at the Liquid Art Winery in Manhattan Kansas on the day we visited. So, I haven’t seen it personally. However, the event center can accommodate up to 375 guests and has floor to ceiling windows with views over the estate. The winery also hosts music events on the patio. Liquid Art will also celebrate its 2-year anniversary in Kansas on July 28. Both events will have food trucks on hand. Liquid Art Tasting Room The tasting room is very pretty with an exposed cedar beam construction. Once inside the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Guests can enjoy barrel and comfy leather seating. There is a beautiful double-sided fireplace with mantle and hearth for additional seating. And the fireplace is framed by two large picture windows overlooking the expansive views of Flint Hills. Merchandise, Cider & Snacks The winery has a small merchandise store where you can purchase t-shirts and wine glasses. Dave and Dani, the owners, also sell cider, but I’ll leave that for a future post. A small refrigerator stocks some cheese, salami, and chips for purchase. Unfortunately, all the meat products were pork-based. Patio Seating and the Flint Hills Again, outside you can enjoy a double-sided fireplace and several tiers of outdoor patios. It was too hot for me, but I can see spending an evening looking out over the more than 20 acres of rolling hills covered in grapevines and trees. You have sweeping views of the entire estate, Flint Hills and City of Manhattan in the distance. There are another 60 acres elsewhere in Kansas. Liquid Art Winery is two hours from Kansas City. The view is breathtaking and so peaceful. Make sure to stay for the sunset! I can imagine sitting by the fire during the cooler months. However, the warmer months give you the opportunity to enjoy the outdoor patio. The winery is a labor of love for owners Dave and Dani. They lived in a trailer at the bottom of the hill for a couple of years while the winery was being constructed. This region of Kansas is beautiful and anything but flat. Sit back, take in the beauty of the rolling hills, and indulge. It’s definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Manhattan, Kansas, or stationed at Fort Riley. Next week I plan to visit Prairie Fire Winery, another Flint Hills winery about 45 minutes west. Stay tuned. Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!
