Couples travel for many reasons, but for us, it’s always been more than a passport stamp. There’s something powerful about exploring the world with the person who knows you best. You share the easy wins—figuring out currency, decoding menus, laughing when you’re lost.
But as a Black couple, there’s another layer. We feel the stares, the quiet questions about how we can afford to be here, the stereotypes that try to box us in. Traveling together pushes back on all of that. Every shared glance, every unspoken joke, every silence we don’t need to explain reminds us that we’re not here to fit someone else’s story. We’re here to live ours.

Steven & Stacey of Duffelbagspouse Travels
My husband and I live a fairly traditional marriage by most standards. We’ve raised kids, paid bills, built a life around loyalty, not spectacle. But we’ve spent much of that life in motion—stationed overseas, exploring countries where Black love is rarely seen, let alone understood.
Traveling together has challenged us, deepened us, and pulled us closer. It’s not always romantic in the way Instagram tells it, but it’s real. We’ve leaned on each other in places that didn’t feel safe, places that felt too quiet, or too loud with stares. We’ve shared wine under foreign skies, argued in airports, and stood together in awe of things we never imagined we’d see.
Over the past three decades, we’ve lived a life on the move—guided by military orders, curiosity, and a deep need to feel at home in the world. We’ve taken our time, moving slowly through more than 60 countries, embracing long layovers, weekend drives, duty stations, and detours.
This is about the beauty of Black couples who choose to move through the world as partners. It’s about staying rooted in each other while constantly adjusting to new ground. And it’s about what it means to hold hands in a place that never expected to see you there—together.
Meet Lovan & Irene of GoingFartherTogether
Some couples chase comfort. Lovan and Irene chose freedom.
They sold their belongings, left their 9-to-5 jobs, and took a leap—one that landed them in countries far from home, living life on their terms. As full-time travelers and digital nomads, they’ve learned to stretch every dollar and travel farther by using credit card points and miles to turn everyday spending into plane tickets and possibilities.
But what stands out most isn’t the destinations—it’s their partnership. They move through unfamiliar cities side by side, navigating new cultures with grace and good humor. Their story reminds us that Black love can thrive anywhere—on the road, across borders, and beyond expectations.

Meet The Yarbros
Some couples follow itineraries. The Yarbros follow their hearts.
Married since 2016, this bold pair has built a life defined by movement, curiosity, and long stays in places most travelers only pass through. From three-month stints to yearlong leases, they plant roots wherever the wind takes them—turning temporary rentals into real homes around the world.
Their travel lifestyle channel doesn’t sugarcoat the journey. It shows the honest ups and downs of living abroad as a Black couple, committed to each other and the life they’ve chosen. There’s joy, adjustment, and a quiet determination that comes from knowing you’ve created something meaningful, together.

They’re not waiting for the “right time” or a perfect plan. As twenty-somethings navigating the world together, they’re showing that adventure doesn’t have to break the bank. Their travels by land and sea highlight what’s possible when you pair curiosity with creativity—and do it all with someone who gets you.
Their story speaks to a new generation of Black travelers. One that values authenticity, shared experiences, and building memories that last longer than a stamp in a passport.

Meet Jay & Sara
Jay and Sara didn’t just downsize—they redefined what a full life looks like.

Final Thoughts
Black love isn’t new. But seeing it celebrated, supported, and traveling freely across borders still feels radical.
These couples prove that we belong anywhere. In quiet cafes in Vietnam. On long train rides through Europe. In cruise ship cabins, open markets, and short-term leases across continents. They’re not chasing perfection. They’re building lives rooted in partnership, trust, and vision.
If you’ve ever wondered what it would look like to go farther together—to turn love into movement, and routine into adventure—these stories are your sign. Black love can be soft, bold, quiet, and loud. It can stay grounded while taking flight. And wherever it lands, it belongs.
