What we discovered inside was precisely what we had been searching for. The atmosphere at Hyang Gallery & Cafe radiated a welcoming warmth, creating a cozy art gallery vibe that instantly put us at ease. The walls were adorned with captivating landscapes and portraits in oils and watercolors. Classic sculptures and eclectic knick-knacks filled shelves and open spaces, adding to the artistic charm. And the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the soothing background music enhanced the overall ambiance. A Refreshing Change

In a world filled with fancy and polished theme cafes that I admittedly adore, there comes a time when you crave something different. Hyang Gallery & Cafe provided a charming, kitschy, and heartwarming atmosphere that instantly put us at ease. Here, we could relax, appreciate the surroundings, converse with the owner, and feel good about supporting the local economy.

Meet the Heart Behind the Cafe

Located in Gachang, Hyang Gallery & Cafe is the brainchild of its owner, Park Sin Hyang. Originally hailing from Seoul, she profoundly loves European travel, which strongly influences the cafe’s ambiance. She opened this establishment three years ago with a unique purpose—not solely for profit, but to warmly welcome and engage with visitors like us.

Despite the language barrier that separated us, we bridged the gap with the help of Google Conversation. Park Sin Hyang, a seasoned traveler who has explored 20 European countries, and we shared our mutual admiration for Plitvice Lakes in Croatia. Our connection deepened over iced Americanos, generously accompanied by complimentary plums and pretzels. The Hyang Gallery & Cafe menu offers a delightful selection of coffees, teas, cakes, desserts, and bingsu.
