The View Hotel in Chiang Dao: Peace and Serenity in the Mountains
Located at the foot of the mountains, just a few hours and 75 km north of Chiang Mai, the hidden city of Chiang Dao awaits exploration. Much like its sister town, Pai, Chiang Dao beckons travelers to immerse themselves in serene landscapes and cultural wonders, providing a much-needed escape from the chaos of bustling city life in Chiang Mai.

Two Days in Chiang Dao
Join us as we recount our recent day trip to this tranquil town, where we discovered the perfect harmony of natural beauty, delectable cuisine, and spiritual richness. Chiang Dao revealed itself as a haven of tranquility, boasting waterfalls, hot springs, mountainside bungalows, diverse culinary options, and vibrant artistic workshops. The town’s manageable size made exploration easy, providing a peaceful retreat from the urban hustle.
The View Hotel in Chiang Dao: A Family-run Retreat
Our journey began at the family-run The View Hotel. This enchanting accommodation provided a comfortable stay and a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding mountains, rice fields, and the charming town of Chiang Dao.
Room Categories and Amenities
The View Hotel offers at least five categories, including Twin, King, and suites, all of which include a delightful breakfast. The rooms boast modern design with clean lines, sauna-like bathrooms, and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Dining Experience
While the dining options are limited to breakfast, dinner, and cocktails on the rooftop, the breakfast experience was excellent. Guests can choose from a good selection, and the food is prepared and ready when guests are ready to eat. Good breakfast (pick your choice between American or Thai; if vegetarian, you must specify it in advance, or you’ll have meat in your place with either version).
Rooftop Ambiance
The ambiance at The View Hotel is chill, with enjoyable decor featuring beautiful plants and artwork. The stunning rooftop bar and restaurant offer magnificent views of both the mountain and the rice fields, creating a perfect spot to chill and unwind in the evening.
On-Site Facilities and Services
The hotel offers a range of facilities, including a state-of-the-art gym, pool, flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi, karaoke bungalows, Refrigerators, and a massive garden with selfie stations, including a swing. I really appreciated all the well-placed outlets as well. A pretty koi pond with gorgeous flowers and an alter on the side of the hotel with stepping stones provide additional charm. The room is new and clean. And the bed is very comfortable.
Location and Accessibility
Situated on a quiet road off the main street in Chiang Dao, The View Hotel is close to most of the city’s attractions and is walkable to a few things. The quiet location enhances the overall tranquil atmosphere of the hotel. The hotel is wheelchair accessible, and there is an elevator on-site.
Additional Amenities
Guests can enjoy free parking and concierge services, adding convenience to their stay. You can also enjoy karaoke in the comfort of one of two enclosed air-conditioned bungalows. They are located at the rear of the property. Each one has views of the rice fields and the pool. However, Grab service is more expensive in Chiang Dao. So make sure you consult the hotel staff so you are not taken for a ride.

Conclusion
In conclusion, our day at The View Hotel in Chiang Dao was a delightful experience. It has been one of my favorite travel experiences so far. However, it offers a perfect blend of relaxation, natural beauty, and cultural exploration. Whether you seek a quiet retreat or an adventure amid scenic wonders. Chiang Dao and The View Hotel provide an ideal haven for both. The price of the hotel is very accommodating. We could even book a room for our driver from Chiang Mai without hesitation. Although our driver planned to sleep in the van, we surprised him with a room at the hotel.
