I love living in Suseong due to the immense diversity offered by its numerous cafes, bars, and restaurants. This guide to Suseong boasts an array of establishments serving local delicacies and international cuisine, providing an eclectic food experience that satiates all my moods. Pizza School is the only pizza spot in the guide to Suseong. We ordered two delightful pizzas at Pizza School in Suseong: the beef bulgogi and the spicy chicken. However, you can rest assured that there are at least 15 other exciting combinations. The tomato sauce was flavorful, leaning towards the savory side rather than overly sweet. The crust was rich and buttery, adding a perfect touch to the overall experience. I must say, we were thrilled that we decided to give this place a try.
By the way, have you had a chance to try a slice here yet? If not, I highly recommend it! You won’t be disappointed with the variety of mouthwatering options they offer.

Raga Indian Restaurant
Raga is one of the most popular restaurants on the Suseong guide. If you’re a fan of Indian cuisine, Raga is an absolute must-visit! This authentic Indian restaurant is located on the edge of the Shinmae Market near Dalgubeol-daero in Suseong, and it has become our favorite spot for Indian food in Daegu.
One thing that sets Raga apart is the generous portions of meat in their curries, unlike another place around the lake that we won’t mention. The menu offers a delightful array of options, including biryani, meat and veggie curries, tandoori dishes, Indian Nachos, and a selection of wraps.
To complement your meal, Raga offers a variety of traditional Indian beverages. Lassi, a homemade yogurt drink, is a must-try. Additionally, they serve Golden Milk, a soothing blend of turmeric, honey, ginger, and cinnamon in warm milk, believed to promote well-being. If you’re interested in herbal teas, they offer Ayurveda Herb Tea, made with traditional Indian medicinal ingredients like tulsi, rose, and ginger, providing a refreshing and aromatic detox experience.
Thandai is another unique drink option, made by infusing cardamom, fennel seeds, almonds, saffron, and rose leaves in honey, then served chilled for a burst of flavors. If you prefer a non-alcoholic option, the Lemon Soda Ade, made with sweet and refreshing lemon juice and sparkling water with ice, is sure to please.
The Naan
A word of caution– be prepared for the deliciously addictive Butter Naan. It’s so good that you might find yourself scraping the bowl clean!
The only downside to Raga is its size, as it’s a small establishment with no parking available. However, there’s a convenient solution nearby. Across the street, you’ll find a Uniqlo store with a free two-story parking lot, where you can safely park your vehicle before enjoying your meal at Raga.
Overall, Raga is a restaurant gem, offering an authentic and delightful Indian dining experience on my guide to Suseong. Don’t miss the chance to indulge in their fantastic dishes and refreshing beverages.

Waglas Rooftop Wine Bar
For our 27th wedding anniversary dinner, we decided to celebrate at the charming Waglas Rooftop Wine Bar in Suseong. The ambiance was perfect for a casual yet romantic night out.
Waglas had an impressively extensive wine menu, offering many options. Although the menu was small, the dishes were undeniably tasty, focusing on pork delicacies. The delectable items we tried were the flavorful fried chicken wings with basil, a refreshing shrimp salad, and a satisfying chopped steak served with a medley of vegetables.
We chose the Mcguigan Shiraz from South Eastern Australia to accompany our meal. It was an excellent choice, as its rich and delightful taste perfectly complemented our dinner.
One aspect that we particularly appreciated about Waglas was their thoughtful approach to serving the food. They paced each course well, ensuring the dishes arrived at our table just as we finished the previous one. This allowed us to savor and enjoy each dish without feeling rushed.
People Watching Guide to Suseong
The cherry on top was reserving a window seat in advance, which gave us a beautiful view of the lake. The dim lighting and pleasing music added to the ambiance, creating a wonderful atmosphere for our special occasion.

Casa Bianca’s
Steven and I enjoy Bianca’s warm hospitality. Her restaurant, Casa Bianca’s, is a nice Mexican restaurant that relocated from the Camp Walker area to the Suseong Circle in my neighborhood. It is our go-to takeout restaurant when we crave Mexican flavors. We’ve tried a lot of menu offerings, but our absolute favorite is their yummy chicken chimichanga.

Today’s Wine Bar
Today’s Wine Bar is a delightful one-story establishment nestled off the circle in Suseong, just below Poonawala, the popular Indian restaurant. While the food at Poonawala is alright, I must admit that when it comes to Indian cuisine, I find myself gravitating towards Raga Indian Restaurant. Raga’s dishes boast a perfect balance of flavors, generous portions of meat, and pocket-friendly prices, making it my preferred choice for satisfying my Indian food cravings.
However, something special about Today’s Wine Bar keeps drawing me back. It has become one of my favorite spots to unwind with a fine wine and indulge in a delectable plate of aglio olio pasta. It’s not just a place for special occasions; it’s versatile enough to suit any mood. Whether I’m seeking some solitary moments, enjoying an intimate evening with my husband, or having fun with my girlfriends, Today Wine Bar fits the bill.
When I visit the wine bar alone, I relish the experience of sitting at their inviting counter-style seating, which runs along the windows. From this vantage point, I can immerse myself in the enchanting ambiance of the place while treating myself to some quality people-watching, adding a touch of urban charm to my dining experience.

I’ve heard whispers about another Today Wine Bar location downtown, but I have yet to venture there. For now, I find myself content with the cozy ambiance and delightful offerings of the Suseong establishment. It has become my go-to spot for relaxation, enjoyment, and great wine and pasta.

Mies Container
Yes, I’ve enjoyed dining at Mies Container in Suseong Lake. At first glance, the building’s appearance might be misleading, as the restaurant is on the 2nd floor of an old building, nestled above a space undergoing renovations during my visit.
Upon entering Mies Container, I was immediately taken in by the inviting atmosphere and the aroma of delectable dishes. The menu presented a delightful variety of options, ranging from mouthwatering pasta and pizza to tantalizing meat trays, fresh salads, and even pasta salads (yes, you read that right—a salad served on a bed of pasta!). The unique combination intrigued me, and I knew I had to try it.
After some contemplation, I opted for one of their famous meat containers, and boy, was it a treat! The dish included perfectly baked chicken, crisp wedges, and shoestring, irresistible fries. The creamed corn added a comforting touch, and the salad provided a refreshing contrast of flavors. But the highlight for me was the nachos, generously topped with gooey melted cheese, which added a delightful twist to the meal. To further elevate the dining experience, the dish came with three delectable dipping sauces that perfectly complemented the different elements of the meal, providing an extra burst of flavor that left me thoroughly satisfied.

Mies Container should be at the top of your list if you find yourself in the area and looking for a place that surprises and delights.
Alongside my delightful meal, I decided to complement it with a refreshing peach tea. To my pleasant surprise, the tea arrived in a huge portion, a generous treat that I couldn’t finish all at once. The restaurant’s large windows allowed ample natural light to flood the space, creating a truly inviting, bright, airy atmosphere.
A Charming Guide to Suseong
Mies Container’s unique charm lies in its creative decor, using large bolts and nuts as napkin holders and exposed light fixtures adding to the industrial chic ambiance. The fantastic 80s hits playlist adds a fun touch to the dining experience, invoking nostalgic feelings for those who grew up in that era.
Convenient parking, a lovely view of the nearby lake, and the warm and welcoming atmosphere make Mies Container an enjoyable place to dine. With delicious food, refreshing beverages, and a touch of creative flair, it’s a gem of a restaurant worth visiting, despite its unconventional decor.

La Salud
Don’t sleep on La Salud. It’s a little pricy, but their burgers are as close to authentic as you’ll get here in Daegu. It’s loved by foreigners and locals who use a knife and fork to cut the burgers.
But we go for the beef rib. It is the perfect mix of fat and protein, and it’s so tender it practically falls off the bone. They smoke every day out front– and the smoke smells good. It’s ginormous, enough for late-night leftovers. We love this thing.

Daecheon Oriental Chicken
Allow me to introduce you to the newest chicken restaurant in Suseong, Daecheon Oriental Chicken (대천한방통닭). This rotisserie chicken joint, located near the lake, offers a unique and delightful experience, setting it apart from the typical BBQ, fried, or Korean-style chicken restaurants. Interestingly, it is situated in the former location of the Patagonia Cafe.
Daecheon Oriental Chicken boasts a menu filled with a variety of whole chicken flavors, each with its own distinctive taste:

- Soy Sauce Herbal Chicken ❤️💯

The chicken here is exceptionally good—tender, succulent, and bursting with flavor. While all the chicken flavors looked appetizing, I must give a fair warning about the garlic chicken—the aroma is incredibly powerful, so it’s best suited for garlic enthusiasts who can’t get enough of that pungent goodness!
To further elevate the dining experience, Daecheon Oriental Chicken offers a selection of dipping sauces, including salt, wasabi, and honey mustard, allowing guests to customize and enhance the flavors to their liking.
A Guide to More than Kimchi
Your chicken order also treats you to various complementary sides, such as cold bean sprout soup, kimchi, cabbage salad, and pickled radish. The thoughtfulness in providing these sides adds a generous touch to the meal and ensures a satisfying dining experience.
In addition to their mouthwatering chicken offerings, the restaurant serves other delectable dishes, including ramen, udon noodles, and even boneless chicken feet—a curious item I’m pretty tempted to try!
One small tip for those who prefer sturdier chopsticks: it’s a good idea to bring your own. The restaurant provides the typical cheap wooden ones that need to be broken apart and might leave some unwanted splinters.
Daecheon Oriental Chicken is a must-visit spot for chicken enthusiasts seeking a unique and delightful dining experience. The mouthwatering flavors, creative rice baking technique, variety of sides, and additional menu offerings make this restaurant a delightful addition to Suseong’s culinary scene. In Suseong, you can find numerous Korean BBQ places, but we’ve discovered a few gems that have become our go-to spots. These establishments offer meat options, including Beef, Duck, Lamb, and Chicken. One of the perks of dining at these places is that many have dedicated parking spaces or parking areas conveniently located nearby.
The best part about these BBQ places is that they cater to different meat preferences, ensuring something for everyone in your group. Whether you’re a beef connoisseur, a duck enthusiast, a lamb aficionado, or a chicken lover, these restaurants have got you covered.

Mijin Livestock
We used to drive to Busan for Mijin Livestock’s marinated beef. They just recently opened a branch here in Suseong for two months. We’ve been 3x, and Steven has taken his colleagues there twice. It’s that good and reasonable for beef, which is far more expensive than pork. They also have chicken.
Parking is sketchy in that part of Suseong, so I suggest you take a taxi if you can sit on the second floor for the view and ability to self-serve.

Nakdongsaeng Duck BBQ
I go to two delicious duck restaurants, but my favorite is Nakdongsaeng Duck Suseongmot Branch. It is yummy and offers limited parking.

Doosan 1st
Doosan 1st is our Cheers for skewered lamb. They know what we want as soon we step into the restaurant. That’s a nice feeling when you are so far from home. And the lamb is delicious and priced well. They also have a dedicated parking lot, which the owner monitors.

Charcoal Grilled Chicken Leg Meat Daebong
If you are looking for more BBQ chicken options, I highly suggest Charcoal-grilled chicken leg meat Daebong. Although it’s not physically located in Suseong. It’s a short drive away in the Daebong area. They offer several marinades, spicy soy sauce, and garlic.

Sixty Chicken
Although I love being your guide to Suseong, I love the neighboring areas too. And if you’re looking for some of the best-fried chicken drumettes, check out 60 Chicken down the street. It is delicious.
What’s to love? It’s in the name. They do not use their cooking oil more than 60 times. And because we don’t eat pork, they change the oil every time we show up, so they aren’t frying our chicken in pork fat. I gotta show them some ❤️ for that.
