Limousine Bus vs KTX Train: The Best Way to Get to Gimhae Airport

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Better than Taking the KTX Train

**UPDATE: We have flown out of Busan’s Gimhae International Airport more than half a dozen times. We’ve driven a few times or taken the train. We love the flexibility of having our car, but we hate the traffic. However, we love the price and flexibility of taking the train, but we hate the transfers here in Daegu and Busan. So we take the limousine bus and not the KTX train. It operates from the express terminal at Dondaegu Station, across the street from the train station.

One way tickets are purchased at the indoor counter. The return ticket must be purchased at the departure counter. There are several trips throughout the day. consult the brochure for departure times. The fare from Dondaegu is 10,400 Won per ticket.

It’s the Next Best Thing to Door-to-Door
Dongdaegu Station

The limousine bus to the airport operates from the Express terminal of the Dondaegu Station, which is across the street from all the construction. You may or may not know that that construction will be the site of the NEW largest department store in the world. It’s replacing Busan’s Shinsegae, slated to open later this summer. But I digress.

Dondaegu Station to the Airport

The limousine bus to the airport operates between all the airports and operate on a strict schedule. Our bus was scheduled to leave at 8:50 am and was backing out of the bus terminal at 8:50 am. We heard a rap on the door. And the driver reversed gears and pulled back into his slot only to turn a little wider as he backed up again. It was a ground guide and not a late passenger who rapped on the side of us. And we were off. So don’t be late. Because you will get left in the terminal.

Don’t Be Late

The driver’s seat looks like the cockpit of a plane. The seats really recline, there are cup holders, a place to hang your purse, and two footrests. And the windows come with curtains and there is a TV at the front of the bus which was never turned on. Thankfully there is no toilet on the bus. By the way, seating is assigned at ticketing and is clearly marked above the seats and under the overhead compartments. Luggage’s stored under the bus by the driver. Each seat has controls for reading lamps and air. However, I didn’t use any of it. I reclined my seat and fell asleep.

Gimhae Airport

We arrived at Gimhae Airport exactly 1 hour and 6 minutes from the time we left Daegu. And I can only recall reaching for my “break” once which in my book is pretty good as Korean bus driving goes. The ticket counter for the Limousine Bus is located in the lower level near gate #3.

Also, understand this driver’s seat! That is AWESOME! I will most definitely try this Airport Limousine Bus when I fly into Busan’s International Airport: )

    Hii!!
    Hey!!
If you drive yourself to the airport, you will need to pay for parking at the airport, even for a few minutes. Furthermore, the experience of driving your own vehicle to the airports can be very undesirable, particularly when time is not on your side. The thought of getting stranded in traffic and missing your plane can be terrifying. So to avoid these kinds of problems you should go for a shuttle bus service. And also you can hire limousine bus for your comfort & stress-free traveling to the airport.
Thank you so much for great sharing.

It is a very comfortable ride to the front door. Just make sure don’t show up late… they leave on the DOT every single time.

Good to know, thanks for sharing. We usually take the train and it is a pain, esp. if we stay overnight. Now we may not have to.
