Considering that Gyeongju is always busy on the weekends, ‘week&’ is a great addition to your cafe hopping list. The yummy brunch cafe is tucked into the neighborhood and may be harder to find, but wandering the narrow streets and alleys is part of Gyeongju’s charm.
Gyeongju is one of my favorite cities. Luckily it’s only a little over an hour away from Daegu, so I can visit often. The city is a captivating destination steeped in history. As you step into its ancient streets, cafe hopping in Gyeongju becomes a delightful journey that immerses you in the city’s rich tapestry while offering a vibrant and inviting atmosphere. Gyeongju is the city with the most World Heritage Sites in Korea.
Gyeongju was once the capital of the Silla Dynasty and remnants of its former glory lay all over this pretty college town. And although the original palace was burned to the ground in the 10th century, the man-made pond still maintains its original footprint where many remnants were recently discovered.
Today we visited the last of the 5 areas that comprise Gyeongju’s Historic Area. This area is the least re-rebuilt and visitors are required to use their imagination to see it as it was during the Emperor Silla’s rule.
