As a new traveler, I made sure to visit the touristy places—places that most people visit, take a selfie and move on. The more I traveled, the more I tried to avoid the crowds and try to find my own path. But lately, I’ve realized that sometimes I like being a tourist too.
One of my my favorite childhood memories was a trip to Redwood Regional Park, an East Bay gem full of second-growth Redwoods. It provides a peaceful break from nearby city life and has a variety of hikes and bike rides.
