Songdo Beach All Year Round

I rarely wade into water deeper than my ankles. I know how to swim, but I’m not crazy about the other stuff, like fish, that can swim too. However, there’s an undeniable magic in the sound of the waves, the sea’s aroma, and the sand’s texture beneath my feet and between my toes. I’m drawn to a serene beach atmosphere without towering skyscrapers, opulent hotels, or bustling crowds. A casual beach walk is my kind of activity, regardless of the season. Strolling along the boardwalk, experiencing a glass-bottom cable car, or going for a mountain hike while keeping the ocean in sight is pure joy. That’s why Songdo Beach in Busan is my happy place.

How to Enjoy Songdo Beach

Enjoy the sandy shore and take part in various beach activities. You can rent beach umbrellas, beach chairs, and even inflatable tubes for swimming. There are also vendors offering various water sports activities such as kayaking and jet skiing.

Don’t miss the opportunity to witness the beautiful sunset at Songdo Beach. As the sun sets over the horizon, the beach and the sky transform into a stunning display of colors. It’s a romantic and mesmerizing experience.

Songdo Marine Cable Car

I was in need of a coffee fix, so I made the decision to grab one before my morning hike. Luckily, the cable cars at Songdo Beach start running early, allowing me to enjoy a cup of joe while soaring above the beach. The cable car station is actually located in the Songdo Branch of Ediya Coffee. As much as I wanted to bring my coffee onboard, eating and drinking inside the cable cars wasn’t allowed. Nonetheless, I savored my coffee at the station, taking in the sight of the cable cars arriving and departing. To satisfy my hunger during the hike, I also grabbed a rice cake as a snack.

To add a little more excitement to my adventure, I purchased a ticket for a glass-bottomed boat ride. The boat journey began by crossing the Cloud Bridge and then venturing further into the ocean, offering me breathtaking views of the beach, the bustling shops, and the cityscape beyond the sandy shores. After a relaxing ten or fifteen minutes, the boat brought me to the other side of the bay.

The combination of enjoying a coffee at the cable car station and taking a glass-bottomed boat ride enhanced my overall experience, allowing me to savor the scenery and kickstart my day of exploration in a memorable way.

Amnan Park

Amnam Park is a scenic hillside park known for its beautiful walking paths, gardens, and observation decks. It provides an excellent vantage point to enjoy panoramic views of the ocean and the cityscape. As I entered Amnan Park in Songdo Beach, I immediately felt a sense of peace wash over me. The winding walking paths led me through beautifully maintained gardens, filled with colorful flowers and lush greenery. It was a serene escape from the busyness of everyday life.

Songdo Coastal Trail

The Busan Coastal Trail is a picturesque walking trail that stretches along the coastline of Busan. Beginning at Songdo Beach and ending at Amnam Park offering breathtaking views of the sea, cliffs, and rocky formations. It features well-maintained pathways, boardwalks, and natural dirt paths, guiding you through diverse landscapes including sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, and hidden coves. Lined with lush vegetation and colorful wildflowers, the trail provides a serene and refreshing escape from the city.

Songdo Coastal Bolle-gil Trail connects Songdo Beach and Amnam Park, about 1.2km, a 20 mins walk along the coast. There are two ways to access the Songdo part of the trail. When facing the sea, the entrance is on the extreme right end of the beach or park at Amnam Park, and look for the entrance at the far left.

The first thing you notice is the red iron deck of 800m long and 1m wide installed prominently along the coast. From the bridge walk so near to the water, you can enjoy panoramic view of Namhangdaegyo Bridge, Songdo Beach, Busan Air Cruise Marine Cable Cars and Songdo Yonggung Suspension Bridge. There is also a small beach in mid-section of the walk as well. It is worthwhile to know that Songdo Peninsula (including Amnam Park & Songdo Coastal Bolle-gil Trail) and Dodo Island are two of the 12 geosites in Busan National Geopark from Songdo district. Other well-known geosites in Busan includes Taejongdae, Oryukdo and Igidae.

Songdo Yonggung Cloud Bridge

Take a leisurely stroll along the Songdo Cloud Walk, a glass-bottomed walkway that extends out over the sea. This elevated walkway provides breathtaking views of the ocean and allows you to experience the sensation of walking on water.

The walkway itself is a long, narrow structure that stretches out from the shore, suspended several meters above the water. It is made of transparent glass, allowing you to see through to the sea below as you walk along it. The glass panels provide an unobstructed view of the water, creating a sensation of walking on water.

As you step onto the Songdo Cloud Walk, you’ll immediately be captivated by the breathtaking views. The azure blue sea spreads out in front of you, with gentle waves crashing against the rocks and the distant horizon merging with the sky. The panoramic vista is simply stunning.
