The Cover Charge at Baristro Asian Style

Baristro Asian Style is a perfect example of how social media can work wonders. It proves that being creative and having a solid social media presence can make a big difference. Simply put, they can charge more for what other cafes offer at a lower price. Thanks to its popularity on social media, especially IG, the cafe gets many customers who pay 80 Baht just to come in and take pictures for their personal Instagram feeds. These posts spread the word, and the cafe gets even more attention without spending a dime on advertising, effectively turning their customers into unpaid brand ambassadors. Many cafes try to do this, but Baristro Asian Style is the first one I’ve visited with a cover charge.

80 Baht Gets You In the Door

Currently, 80 Baht is $2.20, which is pretty expensive for coffee in most cafes in Thailand. The entrance ticket can be exchanged for anything on the equal or lesser value menu. However, if I recall correctly, there isn’t anything on the menu of equal or lesser value. Effectively, your entrance ticket acts as a discount. Unfortunately, that 80 Baht doesn’t get you any of the creative drinks the cafe is known for. The only drink I saw for 80 Baht was the Americano. Howerver, in my humble opinion there are so many other places to get an Americano. I wouldn’t come to Baristro for that.

The Decor

The style is in the name, duh. The Baristro Asian Style Cafe has an Asian aesthetic. Clean lines, natural materials like unhoned rock, and bamboo trees help to create a Zen-like atmosphere. Moreover, it’s done even though the cafe is part of a tourist attraction. Nothing stands out in the design. It all blends in to allow you and your eyes to rest– inside and out.

As soon as you pay your entrance fee, a lovely yet simple green space greets you, and you can hear relaxing instrumental music near the distance. You can take a beeline to the front entrance and the Fast Bar. Or walk in the much-appreciated shade under the covered wooden walkway to the Slow Bar and Matcha section.

Fast or Slow

What’s So Special About Baristro?

Both sections offer tasty coffee, but the main difference is in the names. The fast bar mostly serves coffee-based drinks with lots of ingredients, while the slow bar has more specialized options, including matcha, which can be a bit pricey. If you’re a matcha lover, Baristro Asian Style is the place to be because they use high-quality matcha that you can really taste. But what if you’re not a fan of matcha?

Fortunately, the beverages at the swift bar are equally extraordinary. I relished the Milo Supreme—a delightful fusion of chocolate and coffee crowned with a generous mound of Milo powder. Milo powder, a milder alternative to cocoa powder, lends its delightful flavor. To indulge in even more chocolatey goodness, the glass is artfully adorned with a luscious dark chocolate drizzle that tantalizes both the palate and the eye.

So is it worth it? Of course. I loved the coffees and the toffee cake and lemon tart were amazing. I don’t mind spending a little more for something unique. And Baristro Asian Style lives up to all the hype.
