Getting a Turkish eVisa will probably save you time. It will definitely save you money. And more than likely save you some peace of mind in a country that will test your patience. Actually, it’s also pretty darn easy. Follow these steps on how to get a Turkish eVisa in 10 minutes or less.

How to Get a Turkish visa Online

Since my layover was more than 11 hours long, I decided to explore the city. Fortunately, my layover gave me just enough time to do the 9:00 am to 3:00 pm tour. And although I’d originally hoped to do the tour that lasted until 6:00 pm. However, the lines at security and passport control are long. Ultimately, we didn’t want to miss my connecting flight to Catania. As an American, I need a visa to leave the airport. An eVisa is an official document created online that permits entry into and travel within Turkey. However, the eVisa is an alternative to visas issued at Turkish ports of entry.

For visa applicants

Yes, if you meet the required entry application criteria, you can obtain a visa on arrival. Visit the Ministry’s website (www.mfa.gov.tr) to learn more about these requirements.

Do I Need a Visa?

Most visitors need an entry application, but there are a few exceptions. However, Turkish authorities have the right to deny entry. In addition, there are some additional requirements for entry.

Skip the Lines

Our flight landed an hour before the tour. So, I’m glad we completed our visas online at https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/ so we could skip the lines. Actually, it was cheaper to purchase the visa in advance. There are two kinds of visas: single and multiple entries. Each one can be valid for 30, 60, or 90-day entry into the country. However, there are additional requirements for a multiple-entry eVisa.

Save Money

You can check the website for fees. In fact, American citizens pay $20 for an e-Visa but $30 for an on-arrival visa. Although there are kiosks at the airport, it is recommended that Americans purchase visas before arrival. Please note that eVisa and visa on arrival requirements may differ.

The 10 Minute visa Application 

The eVisa application is found online here. You’ll need the following information:

Nationality
Full name of travelers
Date & Place of Birth
Passport Number, Issue & Expiry Date
Travel Dates
Flight numbers
Mother and Father’s Names
Email Address
Address & Phone Number

Need to Know

Applicants have the opportunity to add additional passengers before completing the application. Applications for eVisas can be created for an individual or family as well as a group. Your passport must be valid for a minimum of 60 days past your stay.

Finally, you are given the link to download your eVisa on the final step, where you will be informed that your application has been completed successfully. In addition, the same link to download your Turkish e-Visa will be emailed to you.

How Much Does the Visa Cost?

Your eVisa fee varies according to the type and country of your travel document. Click the “Apply” button on the homepage. Select your country of travel document to find your specific eVisa fee. Applicants need a debit/ card to purchase the eVisa. But the card does not have to be in your name.

You Must Obtain Another eVisa if:

• Your name does not match your travel documents, and/ or any information on the eVisa is incorrect
• You changed your travel, and the dates are not covered by the eVisa
• If you overstay your visa, you may be asked to pay fines, deported, or banned from traveling to Turkey for a specific period in the future. You must leave the country to reapply.
