The Sound and Mood Brunch Cafe

Situated on the 13th floor of an unassuming building in the Busanjin area of Busan, Sound and Mood Cafe is one of the most beautiful cafes in Busan. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by a friendly parking attendant who proudly shared his experience of living in America and how it improved his English. Stepping out of the elevator, our attention was immediately drawn to the expansive sky and a stunning spiral staircase. The penthouse features a remarkable glass roof held together by steel beams in the shape of an X. Three magnificent crystal chandeliers add an air of shimmering elegance.

The spacious room boasts three walls of windows, offering breathtaking views of the city skyline. The wooden floors reflect the surrounding glass, creating an ever-changing backdrop for the cafe. There are 10 tables, each shaded by charming white umbrellas with fringe, complemented by an eclectic mix of chairs upholstered in white, pink, or orange, adding a delightful touch of color to the space.

We ordered brunch, which included a tossed chicken salad, eggs Benedict served over a bed of spinach with a side of home fries, and a delightful orange pistachio cake that was incredibly light and fluffy. Afterward, we settled in, observing the sun’s journey from east to west across the sky, marveling at the ever-changing shapes it created along the way. We enjoyed this mesmerizing spectacle for over an hour. Don’t forget to get your parking validated when you leave.

The Fullmoon

The Fullmoon is a grand wedding venue and one of the prettiest brunch cafes. It host 4-5 weddings each weekend in different halls within the building. It exudes a stunning ambiance with its high ceilings and celebratory decorations, featuring intricate light fixtures and exquisite floral displays. The entire cafe is decorated in a wedding theme. The ornate ceiling is enhanced by whimsical ambient lighting.

However, be sure not to accidentally stumble into a reception; follow the signs to the cafe section. Positioned at the water’s edge, the cafe boasts an expansive terrace with ample outdoor seating and a charming small greenhouse. The menu offers a variety of dishes, including pastas, salads, steaks, and chicken options.

As we were cafe hopping, we decided to share a yummy stir-fry with steak and fried rice with veggies and grilled pineapples, accompanied by dollops of perfectly spiced aioli. It was a satisfying first meal of the day that both of us thoroughly enjoyed. On your way out, be sure to take a leisurely stroll down the beautiful wedding aisle located in the middle of the cafe and get your parking validated. If I find myself in the area again, I am adding Full Moon to the list of cafes in Busan I’ll visit again..

Garouken Table Brunch Cafe

The Garouken Table, located less than 10 minutes from the Fullmoon Cafe, offers a lovely brunch experience, making it a great opportunity for cafe hopping. The two story cafe in Songjeong Beach area, has less than 10 tables on the first and second. It also has three tables on the second floor balcony overlooking the neighborhood.

The chef, Junha Kim, is Cordon Bleu trained chef who has an Australian accent my husband recognized immediately. The cafe has an English menu as well as a picture monitor to show you exactly what the dish looks like. However, in the end I chose the crab bisque pasta. Chef Kim explained that that the sauce was made with crab, and the pasta was topped with prawns.

Surprisingly, the shrimp was completely de-shelled, something I truly appreciate. It was delicious, the flavors were clean, just a hint of spice. And like the two other cafe, the plating was beautiful. Dedicated parking is not available at Garouken Table. So we were lucky to find a spot in the front of the cafe. However, there are a couple of dishes on the menu that I’m eager to try, including the arancini in cream sauce. Hence Hence a return trip is definitely a must.
